Grand Hyatt Singapore is situated adjacent to Orchard Road in the capital of Singapore. We however checked in late that day due to an overrun shoot, but we got upgraded to a King Deluxe with living room in it. The room is awesome, as a photographer myself, my first instinct was to of course capture some really nice shots for my dear readers before I mess up everything in this room.

So, here are some shots of the room, check it out.

My favourite shot of the day

I hardly do product shots, well, I’ve only occasionally done simple stuffs like toys, fruits shots and so on, but I could say this is my first time shooting jewelry professionally, there were  a few challenges like getting rid off  the dusty stuffs laying on the ring and around it and shooting at such closed up detailed shots, some scratches may occur as well. Also, the ring is reflective, it might have some of my own reflection or things that I don’t want reflected in there. Lastly, not to forget, choosing my preferred surface.  These are a little challenges which I manage to overcome.

All in all, it took me quite some time to get everything right, from lighting, to placing the ring and getting the shot right bringing out the best of the ring. I’m quite satisfied with the shots I get.

The highlights of the day was our beautiful canvas print, which drew the most attention to every one who passed by. We’ve got couples who were very very interested to get this lovely print to hang at their walls. Most importantly this print is about you, your sweet memory of your special day.

To add more fun to this event, they’ve hired Michelle Goh to host their dinner. Michelle manage to turned everyone laugh till they drop. I for myself was enjoying the fun while doing my job as an official photographer for the night. Michelle is one awesome emcee where she really drive the crowd crazy with her funny jokes and expressions on the stage, not to forget her outfit too!

Lastly, PARKROYAL Penang Resort staffs were very friendly and down to earth, eventhough I was on the job for the night, I had a great time being there with you all. You guys are great! Hope to see you all next year.

For the past few months, I have been scouting around for a good affordable workshop. I have been wanting to attend a serious workshop for some time, but have always delayed it due to my busy work schedule. I found out Louis Pang is offering a 4 days workshop, most of other workshops are just 1 or 2 days, I figured i will learn more in a 4 days class with a professional in the industry than just a day’s class. So, without much hesitation, I signed up for the class.

In the 4 days class, Louis had enlightened me alot on his well planned sessions throughout the 4 days. One of the interesting sessions were photo critique sessions whereby we will select a few of our best shots and let Louis critique our shots the same way our shots were judge in WPPI judging process.  The other interesting part of the workshop is Louis’s assignment which simulates an actual wedding day assignments with constraint time and lots of pressure. Throughout the workshop, Louis has been generous enough sharing his experience and thoughts, not to mention, his business strategies, digital workflow, ideas on photobook design, photo editing. He is like an open book and was patient enough to answer my questions.

My objective of attending Louis’s class wasn’t to be able to shoot like Louis Pang. But to learn and inspired by one of the top professional in the industry.  Its like adding more fuel to my burning passion. Louis described photography career is like building a rocket, if you want your rocket to fly a short distance, from Johor to singapore, then you don’t need a big rocket, if you want your rocket flying further away to other end of the world, you would need a bigger rocket. Imagine you want a rocket to fly to the moon?  The question is, how much are you investing in building this rocket and how far do you want to go?

All in all, I had a great time attending this workshop. Louis had given me much guidance and inspiration.  I highly recommend this workshop to people who wants to bring their photography business to the next level. Although the class did not go through much into flashy technical techniques, I had still learned much to keep things simple and be extraordinary in my wedding assignments. Most importantly Louis had inspired me to shoot differently, shoot from my heart,  to be myself. I have gained much from this workshop looking at the shots I’ve done in my last week’s wedding, from capturing the moments, appreciating the lighting of the venue and shooting beautiful portraits in my assignments, I’ve improved alot. Thanks Louis.

Oh, of course, not to miss out, the new bunch of new friends I’ve got to know. My fellow photographers and models. We had a great time learning together in the 4 days workshop.

I’ve always loved Garden weddings, the red carpet filled with flower petals, the happy moments of walking down the aisle, the preparation, the emotions. I just love the settings.It was my great honor to capture the special moments of Mr Ku and his lovely bride Sally on their very special Garden Wedding ceremony in our Penang Park Royal Hotel.

The sky was pouring heavily on that early morning, but the sunny weather came in just in time for the garden wedding. In addition to the awesome venue and weather for the garden wedding, we had a fun filled bride and groom with lots of energy and laughters throughout the wedding, I had so much fun covering their wedding day.

In this entry, I’d like to share my latest work with Damien and Adeline on their actual day. Both a pair of sweet couple who met and fell in love during their university days. This month, they decided to bring their relationship to the next level, to tie the knot of course. On the day itself, there were so much fun with the games Adeline’s ji mui prepared, Damien’s heng dai was pretty persistent in helping Damien to get to his bride. Although the hotel room was pretty packed with people, the shots were still to lovely capturing the fun of the day.
