Portraiture under the sunset

Ok, past two posts has been something out of the box. Here is something more familiar, some portraiture work.

Well, its time for me to polish my off-shoe flash technique I learnt in the past week. As you all may know me, I always shoot under natural lighting. This time around, i’ll be using my faithful SB900 for a little flashy stuff. It was 6:30pm, and I’ve got a model, without much hesitation, my natural instinct was of course to shoot her potraiture having the sun setting as background under the beautiful sky.

Then we head for an empty abandoned ground behind my house in my hometown Kuantan.

As it was 6:30pm, I didn’t have much time to shoot, all I wanted was a simple shot, with a nice sun setting as background, with a properly exposed model, with a little flaring from the setting sun for the mood in the shot, in an abandoned urban area.

Here is what I got.

Nikonian Academy Flash Class

Here is what I do when I don’t have assignments on weekends. Learn something. This time around, I’m lucky enough to have an open weekend and a scheduled flash photography class by Nikonian academy KL. Thanks to Andrew for the short, simple and awesome class for the day. I get the chance to play around with a few flashes and of course classmates whom we take turns to be each other’s lighting assistant. We had lotsa fun throughout the day learning flashy stuff from our nikonian academy instructor Andrew in his easy going laughter filled class.

I’ll definitely be back for more if there is an advance flash photography class. Here is two assignments for the day, nothing major, we were fooling around with 2 or 3 flashes and controlling them properly.

Seems like its time for me to grab more SB900…

Flash Strobing~

What have i been doing for the last few weeks? The answer is flash strobing. Me and a group of photographers were spending some time at night after work around penang learning up flash strobing. These are the few shots we came up with.

They looked really good, i’m beginning to get addicted with flash strobing. Maybe we’ll be shooting pre-weds in the night coming future.
